The Beauties of Nature by 平野実穂 Miho Hirano

Japanese artist Miho Hirano is one of many modern artists that stunningly incorporates nature into art. A graduate of the Musashino Art University and a resident of Abiko, Chiba, Hirano creates ethereal oil paintings portraying women submerged with nature.

Hirano’s dreamy oil paintings are inhabited by ephemeral spirits at one with their natural environment, whose hair flows into flowering tree branches or flowing strands of seaweed. She adorns their hair with accessories made of flora and fauna like swarming bees, hummingbirds, and goldfish, each carrying their own weight as elements of beauty and symbols of Hirano’s identity. In essence, each of her paintings represents a world where humans and nature can coexist.

In addition to her official website, she also has a large following on Instagram and Facebook, from which fans can enjoy all of her published artwork.

    Imagery Underwater Photography by

    Zena Holloway

A series of ethereal underwater photography is created by Zena Holloway. Based in London, the photographer was inspired by her raw love of being underwater and although being self-taught she managed to capture these captivating photographs.

The fabrics of the perfectly selected clothes that usually resemble haute couture creations frame the models’ bodies transforming them into some unknown goddesses or mythical creatures that live underwater. Holloway’s works exude elegance and a delicate charm that finally make each picture really dynamic.

A Magical World of Mushroom Captured by Steve Axford

    More info: Facebook and Flickr

Australia-based photographer Steve Axford loves to travel to the remotest corners of the earth, capturing the lives of people, animals, and most importantly, fungi. His fascinating photographs of the diverse world of fungi seem to picture a fantastic expedition to some distant alien world. And it’s easy to understand why. Many of these rare mushroom species are unknown to us and have never been photographed before.

My photography has been my avenue into this world as it slows me down and allows me to look at things more closely,” says Axford. “I try to combine the beauty I see with some scientific accuracy, so most of my photos could be used to identify things and will show the fine detail.

Many of these rare fungi were photographed around Axford’s home in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales in Australia. However, his travels in search of rare species have taken him as far as Victoria and Tasmania. H/T: http://ssaft.com

Shusaku Takaoka Juxtaposes Pop Culture with Classical Art for Satire

Shusaku Takaoka is a Japanese graphic designer author of these witty and surprising illustrations. The artist is inspired by our modern society to juxtapose visuals who form a funny set and sometimes denouncing aspects of an ultra-consumer and over-connected world.

Mixed media art is something that fascinates us, because it leaves so much opportunity to see the old blend with the new.

Shusaku Takaoka, is taking this idea to a whole new level with their graphic design artwork that combines classic works of art with modern day photography and pop culture.

Opinions on the art could very easily clash due to some seeing it as an insult to the original pieces, while others praise the artist for their innovation.

On top of that, the stark contrast in certain pictures brings about the harsh realities of the differences between what was and what is now.

Characters from fairy tales, paintings, frescoes, but also VIPs, brands, and supermodels. Shusaku Takaoka blends profane and sacred, worldly and classic.

Shusaku doesn’t save anything, sacred images, works of art, celebrities, politicians, cartoons, the Japanese artist takes all this, mixes it together and posts the result on the web.
He enjoys upsetting everything we know.

    Floating Houses of Lake Bokodi

Floating Houses of Lake Bokodi by Kaushik 9 months ago Lake Bokodi, in the village of Bokod, about 80 kilometers west of Budapest, Hungary, is an artificial lake created in 1961 by the Oroszlány Thermal Power Company by flooding a low-lying meadow next to the plant. The power plant draws cold water from the lake to operate its boilers, and warm water is returned back to the lake. This continues…
